Cherry Blossom Festival

This weekend’s Cherry Blossom Festival is the first of two consecutive that celebrates the Japanese culture and the diversity of the Japanese-American community. Entering its 51st year, the annual event in San Francisco’s Japantown neighborhood is the largest on the West coast, attracting over 220,000 people. The festival will showcase cultural performances, martial arts, live music and food vendors. This Saturday will feature the Queen Program, which is dedicated to mentoring young women to help them develop the leadership skills necessary to promote both their personal strengths but also to promote a stronger community.

Cesar Chavez Parade and Festival

Mission

The annual celebration of the legacy of workers’ and civil rights leader Cesar Chavez returns to the Mission this weekend for the Cesar Chavez Parade and Festival. The parade will assemble beginning around 10 a.m. at Dolores Park and will step off at 11 a.m., proceeding to 24th Street. The parade will end at the 24th Street Fair between Treat Avenue and Bryant Street, where attendees can learn about the life of Cesar Chavez while also enjoying live music, family entertainment, a car show, as well as food and drink from local businesses.

28th Annual California Mille
April 15-19, 2018

Free Car Show Atop Nob Hill, April 15, 2018

Some 70 vintage vehicles that could have qualified for the Mille Miglia, Italy’s most-famous open-road race, will motor to San Francisco’s Nob Hill on April 15, 2018 for a free car show and preview of the 28th annual California Mille.

Ancient Alfa Romeos, pristine Porsches and magnificent Mercedes-Benz will take their places next to Jaguars, Ferraris, Bentleys and other classics on Mason Street, closed to traffic between Sacramento and California Streets.

The public is invited to see the cars and meet the drivers between 11 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

At 1:30 Sunday afternoon California Mille co-directors David and Howard Swig will greet the fans.

On Monday morning, April 16 we will wave the Italian flag  and officially starting the four-day, one thousand mile tour (not a race) of northern California time capsule towns and little-known backroads.

Discover Third Street’s small businesses and explore the main corridor of The Bayview without the presence of automobiles this Sunday during this year’s third edition of Sunday Streets. Spanning Third Street from 22nd Street to Carroll Avenue, pedestrians will have the freedom to enjoy all Third Street has to offer as well as live music and performances, block parties, family activities and more during this car-free event.
